Our client reported a bird sitting on the side of a building which resulted in an investigation into how it was there, given there were no ledges or otherwise for a bird or animal to sit on. Upon investigation, we found a reinforcement bar protruding from the building. The building was recently refurbished however the structure was around 30 years old. The corrosion of the bar had forced the bar to the outside of the concrete and was heavily corroded.
Our team began right away, cutting out the affected concrete, grinding back the steel to a bright finish, applying treatment to the affected areas and removing the protruding section. Once treated, when the new concrete had dried, we applied a coating to the area to avoid further corrosion and painted to suit the finish of the building.
